Curriculum Vitae Dr. Massimo Mangialavori homeopathy

Dr. Massimo Mangialavori

Curriculum Vitae of Massimo Mangialavori
I was born in the city of Naples on 30 November 1958, but to my regret I only ever lived there for a few years, when I was studying medicine at the University. I grew up first in Milan, and then from 1966 in Modena, where I have lived and worked ever since.
I qualified as a doctor in 1984, and then I specialised in Food Sciences at the University of Modena, under Professor Nino Battistini, gaining my diploma in 1987. My thesis was on the effects of fasting in human beings.

I had studied medical anthropology from the beginning of my university career, and out of this grew an interest in traditional forms of medicine. This in turn led me to dedicate myself entirely to Classical Homeopathy, which I have been practising since 1985. I attended some courses in Homeopathy in Italy, and various seminars throughout Europe, but remained rather dissatisfied. Only on meeting Dr. Giovanni Marotta of Roma, and the years of study and reflection that we spent together, allowed me to continue my work with enthusiasm, encouraging me to develop a personal methodology of the study and application of homeopathy. For the past few years I have been sharing this with various groups of colleagues, both in Italy and abroad.
In 1991 I began to teach, thanks to an invitation from Dr. Hans Zwemke of Berlin, and from colleagues in the Dutch Homeopathic Society, chiefly Dr. Cees Baas and Dr. Fernand Debats. These first seminars allowed me to present some of my work, my ideas and the cured cases which I had gathered in the preceding years according to my paradigme (see section "Cases and articles"). Since then I have divided my time between my practice and the teaching of Homeopathic Medicine at "Scuola Internazionale di Formazione Permanente in Medicina Omeopatica C.I.M.I.-Koinè" (see section "Courses") for different organisations with whom I have been, and with some of them I am presently associated, including:
  • Academia Medico Homeopatica de Barcelona
  • Academic Departments of Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital (Glasgow)
  • Berlin Seminar of Homeopathy (Berlin)
  • Dragonfly Seminars (Brighton)
  • Four Wind Seminars (San Francisco)
  • Homöopathie Seminare & Vertrieb (Augsburg)
  • Medical Society for Classical Homeopathy (Salzburg)
  • N.E.H.A. - New England Homeopathic Association - (Boston)
  • Scottish Seminars (Edimburgh)
  • S.H.O. Foundation for Post Academic Homeopathic Education (Wageningen)
  • Suomen Homeopaatit (Helsinki)
  • VHK Switzerland (Zurich)
  • Heron's Seminars (Seattle)
  • JPS Japanese Physicians Society for Homeopathy (Tokyo)
In 1993 I founded "The Association for Homeopathic Research and Study - Ulmus", an organisation that is active in teaching and research both nationally and internationally. Since 1994 I have organized various workshops and seminars for Ulmus, including an international seminar every summer which is already in its eleventh year. I have been a board member of F.I.A.M.O. (the Italian Federation for Homeopathic Associations and Doctors) for the some years. My particular responsibilities were for: homeopathic education; relations with other European schools; and the drafting of guidelines for the organisation and the curriculum adopted by the Education Department for FIAMO-approved homeopathic colleges. 1n 1993, in association with Dr. Giovanni Marotta, I initiated the first postgraduate seminars in classical homeopathy in Italy. Out of these seminars was born, in 1998, the International School for Continuing Postgraduate Training in Homeopathic Medicine CIMI-Koiné, which I run along with Dr. Marotta, and where the following doctors also teached:
  • Cees Baas (Eindhoven)
  • Bob Leckridge (Glasgow)
  • Peter Koenig (Vienna)
  • Giacomo Merialdo (Genova)
  • Francesca Pisseri (Pisa)
  • Andrea Rettagliati (Roma)
  • Riccardo Tomassini (Roma)
  • David Warkentin (San Francisco)
  • Hans Zwemke (Berlino)
In 1996, Drs Cees Baas, Jurgen Faust, Marion Mayemburg, Peter Konig and Hans Zwemke and I took part in the foundation of "DELPHI", a project to collect, study and exchange experiences and cured cases from clinical and veterinarian practice, open to everyone in the international homeopathic community.
In 1998, 2003, 2005 I was a key speaker at the world Congress of the Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis.
In this year another book, written by Dr. Greta Hieronymus-Faust from two seminars that I gave with David Warkentin in Augsburg in 1997: "Klassische Homöopathie - Methodik & Arzneimittellehre Vol 1 and 2" In the same year I started a research, study and supervision group with some colleagues in Vienna, together with Dr. Uta Santos Konig. Part of this work is published in a book: "Homeopathic Families - 20 remedies coming alive"
In 2001, thanks to all the experiences I have had in the preceding years, starts the "Three-Year International Postgraduate Course in Homeopathy", a postgraduate school for homeopaths from all around the world that takes place in Bologna and Boston.
In 2003 with the collaboration of Dr. Gianni Marotta I wrote a book: "PRAXIS - A New Method in Homeopathic Medicine; seeking for coherence in clinical phenomenon". The first book, in four volumes translated in German and English, that introduces the "Model of Complexity in Homeopathic Medicine": my methodological approach illustrated also through cases treated with homeopathic remedies that I considers belong to the "homeopathic family" of drugs.
In 2004 I published a book with Dr. Hans Zwemke: "Bitten in the Soul - experiences with spider remedies in Homeopathic Medicine" (for information see section "Publications")
In 2005, still in collaboration with Dott. Giovanni Marotta, we started a Perfectioning course in Homeopathic Medicine: a new series of seven seminars with the aim of accurately differentiating homeopathic remedies and families for core issues in human beings.
In 2006 in collaboration with N.E.H.A. (New England Homeopathic Academy) started a master in Homeopatich Medicine: "Accurately Differentiatiting Homeopathic Remedies and Families". A series of seven seminars. In 2007 in collaboration with Betty Wood M.D. (Boston) a new book arrives: "Solanaceae - A nightmare between Ligth and Dark". A book about my perspective about the homeopathic family of the Solanacea and some more similar remedies.
In 2007 I was invited by Tom Withmarsh to began a supervision group in NHS, the Homeopathic Hospital in Glasgow.
In 2007 I was a key speaker at the Congress "Celebrating Links" in Heidelberg where I presented a study on Oleum animale.
In 2008 in collaboration with Betty Wood M.D. I published: "Insecurity - A homeopathic perspective". A book about the grand thematic area of insecurity.
For several years I collaborated with David Warkentin of San Francisco, the author of what I consider to be the best homeopathic computer programmes currently available. I would like to rememeber and to thank him particularly for his friendship and for having made available together those precious tools by whose means we are able each day to dedicate ourself to our work and to our studies.
